Antimicrobial Stewardship
The Albury Day Surgery follows Antimicrobial Stewardship policies and regularly reports the use of Preventative Antibiotic use both
intraoperatively and via prescription to both our Medical Advisory committee and Consumers.
The use of prophylaxis antibiotics in our facility is monitored carefully.
All patients who are prescribed antibiotics or given antibiotics intraoperatively are given an information sheet which can be found here. Patients will also be spoken to by their Surgeon or Anaesthetist regarding your antibiotics.

- Improving prescribing practices
- Reducing inappropriate use
- Preventing antimicrobial resistance
- Educating clinicians and patients
ADS continually monitors who and why Antimicrobials are prescribed and also completes infection surveillance. The statistics listed shows how many patients were prescribed antimicrobials either intraoperatively or via a prescription.
