How do I book in?
Everything you need to know about visiting us.
1. See Your GP
Start by visiting your GP. They will evaluate your condition and provide a referral to an appropriate specialist.
- As a guide, visit Our Team page to see which specalists work here.
2. Consult the Specialist
Have your appointment with the specialist. They will determine if you need surgery or a hospital procedure and agree to be your admitting
doctor.
Some Specialists do Open Acess bookings. This refers to scheduling an endoscopic procedure (like a colonoscopy or gastroscopy) requested by a GP without requiring an initial consultation with the Specialist. Referalls still are required to be sent directly to the Specilaist for Open Access.
- The Process: A referring doctor assesses the patient, ensures they meet safety and health criteria, and books the procedure directly.
- The Benefit: It reduces wait times and limits the number of necessary hospital appointments.
3. Check Your Cover
- If you have Private Health Insurance: Contact your insurer to ensure your procedure category is covered and check for any out-of-pocket 'excess' costs.
- Self-Funding: You can still book into a private hospital if you don't have insurance, but you will have to pay the full accommodation and theatre fees yourself (Medicare only subsidises a portion of the doctor's fees). You will have 3 sets of fees, hospital, anaesthetist and doctor/specialist fees.
4. Complete Admission Paperwork
Your specialist's rooms will either give you a hardcopy admission bookelt, or guide you to the complete the online forms.
- Ensure you complete these at least 3-7 days prior to your admission date to ensure all paperwork can be processed prior to your procedure.
- You will need: Medicare card, private health details, a list of all your medications, and next of kin details.
5. Confirm Financials & Booking
We will review your admission forms and send out an Informed Finanical Consent if you are unsure of Private Health Fund excess, or a self
funding quote if you are not insured. These are sent via email.
We will send you an SMS and complete a pre-admission call the buisness day prior to your procedure.
